Incubator Application Details
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to all faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students at NC State. NC State community members from any disciplinary background with a participatory science-based project idea are encouraged to submit a proposal.
We welcome proposals from individuals or teams but ask that the same person from your team attend all four workshops.
Important Dates for Fall 2026 cycle
Sept 7, 2026 – Call for proposals. Application opens.
Oct 5, 2026 – Application closes.
Oct 5 – 9, 2026 – Application review period.
Oct 12 – 16, 2026 – Applicants notified and cohort confirmed.
Anticipated meeting schedule for Incubator Workshop Series (may be adapted to accommodate cohort needs): Oct 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, and Nov. 16 from 12 – 2pm.

Application and Project Proposal Components
- Name and positions of Project Lead, Collaborator(s), and PI.
- Proposed Project Title
- Project Description (limit 500 words).
Explain using general terms the significance of your project, project aims, and why participatory science methods are a necessary approach. - Anticipated Participatory Methods (limit 500 words)
Include your anticipated methodological approach, including your capacity to analyze data collected by participants. - Communication Plan for updating and reporting back results to project participants and disseminating further findings (limit 250 words)
- Anticipated Project Outcomes (limit 100 words)
Describe the current status of your project (e.g. an idea, has some pilot data, reviving an old project, etc.). Describe how the Citizen Science Incubator can help you produce anticipated publications, grant proposals, or other possible outcomes.
